"Multilingual Etiquette Guide Connecting Cultures"

In recent years, with the increase in foreign travelers, etiquette violations and cultural misunderstandings have become prominent at Shinto shrines, Buddhist temples, and other sites. Most of these issues stem from "lack of awareness" and could be prevented if accurate information is properly communicated. Therefore, we will issue a travel guide for foreign travelers that explains etiquette at Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples in an easy-to-understand manner. The region introduced in the guide is Ishikawa Prefecture, where the number of tourists has decreased after the Noto Peninsula Earthquake. Our goal is to realize tourism that both disseminates culture and supports post-disaster reconstruction. 206

Part 3: Current Situation and Reconstruction of the Noto Peninsula

The Noto Peninsula still bears traces of the earthquake. Buildings collapsed or were damaged, roads under construction, and some roads had one-way traffic restrictions. Landslides and ground loosening remain in some areas. Many tourist spots were also affected, such as fallen torii gates at shrines and restricted access at Shiroyone Senmaida. Main roads are still passable, and with a car, the entire peninsula can be toured in one day. Reconstruction sites and newly maintained roads can be seen, showing gradual recovery. Restaurants and accommodations are operating to receive visitors. Although disaster traces remain, reconstruction efforts are underway. Visitors should check the latest traffic information and facility opening status.
